Fall 2016 Birdathon
Has been postponed!
The Rules are Simple:
Get your sponsorship Now! Contact everyone you know – be enthusiastic!
Registration begins September 1, 2016 til October 1st through Eventbright for the 2016 Birdathon. Registration is $25.00 per person which includes a “New” SBAS Hat. (Hat is optional, if you already have one!). No team discounts!
October 1 – October 12, 2016 (Citizen Science)
Go birding anywhere in the world at anytime during these dates. Choose your best 24-hour birding experience, record the number of birds species seen and the number of birds.
October 13 and 14 2016
Fill out the number of Birds seen on the Bird-list Spreadsheet accompanied with these documents. E-mail your Bird-list to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight of October 14th.
Start collecting the money from your sponsors by October 14, but complete collection by October 30. Give the money to either John O’Brien or Marsha Macdonald who will further process the funds. Cash or Checks gladly accepted. Checks should be made out to Santa Barbara Audubon Society – no credit card payments, please.

The Birdathon Committee will compile all the Bird-lists to determine the winners which will be announced at the EITS, Open-house Fundraiser held at the SBMNH on
Sunday, October 16.
October 16, 2016
Three winners will be announced for three different categories below and will be awarded prizes.
– The Team or Individual who sees/hears the most bird species in a 24-hour period during
October 1 – October 12, 2016 SBAS Birdathon.
– The Team or Individual who has raised the most money for SBAS during the Birdathon.
– The team or individual who sees a Rare or Very Rare or Casual Bird during the Birdathon. The Rare or Very Rare/Casual Bird Judge will be our talented Rebecca Coulter.
Definition of Rare Bird and Very Rare or Casual:
Rare – 2 to 15 individuals per season.
Very Rare or Casual – average of one or fewer records per season.
