Santa Barbara Audubon Society’s Winter Bird Count 4 Kids Committee greatly appreciates and thanks the 39 volunteers and attendees (including the 15 group leaders) whose dedication made this year’s event a success despite the wet weather! We couldn’t do it without their support.

This year’s event was attended by 31 kids and 5 high school helpers from 16 schools who braved the wet weather with dedication and smiles.

We are especially grateful for Andy Lanes, of UCSB’s Cheadle Center, one of the founders of the WBC4K ten years ago, who has compiled our list of birds seen all these years. 2024 birds seen/heard totaled 49 species. Species of note were the Red-breasted Sapsucker, Summer Tanager, Tropical Kingbird and Violet-green Swallow.
