Sunday, October 16, 2016, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Come join us at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History for the third annual Eyes In The Sky Open House. This year marks the 6th anniversary of the aviary and the 16th anniversary of the program itself.

Eyes in the Sky is the Santa Barbara Audubon Society’s educational outreach program, and is the only licensed raptor education program in Santa Barbara County.

Our open house is your chance to get behind the scenes in the aviary. See the Raptors up close and personal! Discover for yourself how enthralling these birds can be and what gets the kids so excited over them.

EITS’ focus is on providing children, especially those who live in disadvantaged areas, opportunities to experience wildlife both in the classroom and in nature. Volunteers bring these feathered ambassadors to places such as schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, and after school programs. The children learn how to identify local birds by sight & sound, how to approach animals respectfully, and how they can assist with their future survival. The live birds’ presence inspires respect for wildlife, while their stories illustrate the impacts of human activities upon the birds and their habitats.

Since 1991, EITS Founder and Executive Director, Gabriele Drozdowski, has rescued and rehabilitated over 3,000 wild injured, orphaned, oiled and displaced birds, and, since 2000, has presented over a thousand live bird programs.
