Christmas Bird Count
This group, chaired by Holly Keefe, plans to help you enjoy next year’s Christmas Bird Count dinner even more than in the past. Each year after the CBC, hungry birders flock to Fleischmann Hall at the Natural History Museum.
The Santa Barbara Christmas Bird Count website has been updated not only with our official submitted totals (“Latest Count Results”), but also with a tab showing a summary of our counts from 1991 onward (“Historical Since 1991”) where you may look up the average number of birds reported by decade, among other things. By Rob Denholtz Carpinteria’s fifth annual Christmas Bird Count was supported by 81 birders who combed a circle that ran from the Santa Ynez Mountains foothills to the sea and from Fernald Point to Seacliff. Our final count was 144 species, including “our” Gray Hawk (likely a returning bird, this year as an adult).
