Date & Time

Tuesday, February 20, 2024
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Location:

Farrand Auditorium,
Santa Barbara Museum Of Natural History
2559 Puesta del Sol, Santa Barbara, CA5

This special evening features a curated selection of film clips by talented UCSB student filmmakers telling vital and timely stories about our local environment. Chris will introduce the film clips and describe how students with a range of backgrounds work in teams to leverage their collective production skills and environmental knowledge, creating exceptional environmental films as part of the Coastal Media Project and the GreenScreen environmental media production program. While not specifically bird-focused, the collection reveals insights on wildlife habitat, conservation and the next generation who will work to protect the natural world.

Chris Jenkins was exposed to exotic locales at an early age, shaping his love for cultural diversity, nature and art. He followed a somewhat unconventional path, first pursuing art through bronze sculpture and oil painting before picking up a camera and dedicating himself to over two decades of international documentary filmmaking. His work has aired on Netflix, PBS, NHK, A&E, Discovery, The History Channel, Travel Channel and Sundance Channel. For the past 13 years, Chris has been teaching filmmaking in the UCSB Department of Film & Media Studies. As Head of Production, he finds joy in helping students realize their potential as storytellers.
