Field Trip: S.B. Harbor & Andree Clark Bird Refuge

Location: Santa Barbara Harbor and Andree Clark Bird Refuge

We will meet at the base of the breakwater at the Santa Barbara Harbor.
There is ample, free parking on the right as you enter the harbor across from La Playa Stadium off Shoreline Drive.

After birding the Harbor, we will drive to the Andree Clark bird refuge to explore this freshwater ecosystem.

Many migrant and resident sea birds and water birds are expected.

Target Birds

  • Fresh water birds
  • Salt water birds

Directions

From the south:

  • Exit Hwy 101 at the Garden Street / Laguna Street, Exit 96B
  • Bear left to exit onto Garded Street
  • Turn left at the light onto Garden Street
  • Turn right onto Cabrillo Blvd.
  • Follow Cabrillo Blvd which turns into Shoreline Drive
  • Turn left at Harbor Way
  • Free parking is on the right or straight ahead.

From the north:

  • Exit Hwy 101 at Castillo Street, Exit 97
  • Turn right on to Castillo Street
  • Turn right on to Shoreline drive
  • Turn left at Harbor Way
  • Free parking is on the right or straight ahead.

Other Information

  • Dress in layers
  • Bring water, snack
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Bring a hat
  • Binoculars a must, spotting scopes are very useful
