Saturday, September 19, 2026 ~ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join the Santa Barbara Audubon Society (SBAS) for Coastal Cleanup Day at Lake Los Carneros on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 9:00 am to 12 noon. We’ll be meeting at the parking lot near Stow House, 304 N. Los Carneros Road in Goleta. This is a great opportunity to join with friends, and make new friends, while caring for one of our favorite local birding locations.
The largest volunteer effort in California, Coastal Cleanup Day is a community-based opportunity to be part of the solution to pollution. Volunteers of all ages can participate and pre-registration is not required but encouraged. SBAS will have a captain on hand to provide instructions and supplies. Please bring your own reusable gloves, bags or buckets, and reusable water bottles to lessen the plastic footprint of this event. If you don’t have any, we will have plenty. Please wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing, use sunscreen and bring other sun protection like hats or sunglasses.
Everyone who participates is encouraged to fill out a waiver. This can be done on the day of the event or in advance by going to the Explore Ecology webpage https://exploreecology.org/coastal-cleanup-day/
Coastal Cleanup Day is organized in our area by Explore Ecology and their partner, the County of Santa Barbara Resource Recovery and Waste Management, with support from the cities of Goleta, Santa Barbara and Solvang. The California Coastal Commission organizes the statewide event.
