2014 Santa Barbara County Christmas Bird Counts

The 115th Christmas Bird Count season is upon us and once again Santa Barbara County is host to 5 count circles so you can stay as busy as you like participating in the longest running citizen science project in the county. Last year our species total was 222 counted by over 250 participants!

Join us this November as Estelle Sandhaus, Ph.D., of the Santa Barbara Zoo, speaks about condor conservation and the Santa Barbara Zoo. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Santa Barbara Independent: Yellow-Billed Cuckoo Listed as Threatened

As reported in the Independent: “The yellow-billed cuckoo will soon be listed as a threatened species in parts of 12 western states under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced on Thursday.” Read the Independent article HERE.
